Corporate Warfare: Shinra has a private army consisting of various types of military troopers, genetically-augmented SOLDIER members, and a wide array of robots and mecha. Big Bad Wannabe: They’re the lesser of the two threats and Sephiroth is eventually the last threat AVALANCHE has to face to save the planet. Big Bad Ensemble: They share this role with Sephiroth a majority of the game, however…. 
Arc Villain: They act as the initial antagonists of Final Fantasy VII within Midgar, until Sephiroth puts a sword through President Shinra's gut and the narrative turns attention to his schemes and the party leaves Midgar to pursue him.All for Nothing: Once the company realizes that the Promised Land that they’ve been looking for doesn’t exist they immediately loose their cool as they were planning to build Neo Midgar in that place.Their headquarters is Midgar, an advanced metropolis in the middle of a wasteland thanks to their mako reactors draining the life from the region.
A Megacorp that effectively controls the planet due to their monopoly of mako, a highly efficient energy source that allowed them to corner the power market and expand their power and influence.
